Xbox 360 Core System: What Is It?

There are a few different configurations of the Xbox 360 video game console that are available that some gamers are not aware of. Before you buy the Xbox 360 Core System, here is some very important points that you need to be aware of.

Xbox 360 Core System

This game really sets a new pace for digital entertainment. It is a cutting edge video game system and it is a whole new world that is in your hands to access whatever you want. Not only is it powered by a custom IBM PowerPC based CPU with 3 symmetrical cores, it is smaller than the system before it. The Core System conists of a embedded DRAM or a ATI custom graphics processor 10MB.

The unit features a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive and uses a refined button layout for its controllers which makes game play as easy and convenient for users as possible. You can do this for hours on end without your hands hurting or getting tired.

Accessories that come with the Core System are: Xbox 360 console, sired controller, Xbox Live Silver memebership, detachable faceplate, and standard AV cables.

Xbox 360 Premium System

Both of these games – namely the Xbox 360 Core system are incredibly popular and it looks as though this popularity is only going to continue growing in the future. If you want to get the Xbox 360 Core system or other 360 console for yourself, you should be able to find what you are looking for at any of your local video game stores.

It is possible that you won’t be bale to find what you need there, if that is the case then you can go through Microsoft; the creator and manuafacturer.

Also keep in mind that you are offered a certain amount of goods with your system, but there are many other tools and accessories that you can purchase as well, if you are interested. Before you buy anything more for your Xbox 360 Core System, you might want to get used to playing it first. Especially if you have little to no experience with video games, it will be wise to wait and make additional purchases until you have more information and experience with the game and are more skilled at it and then spend more money.

Audio Books for the Blind: An Evaluation

If you want to talk about technology creating a feel good humanitarian story, then look no further than audio books for the blind.

From textbooks and newspapers to magazines and best-sellers, our society is extremely visual. Added to that is the overwhelming use of computers and the internet, which are primarily visual mediums. What is taken for granted by most of us - even simply flipping through a magazine - is a struggle for those who are blind or visually impaired.

Today’s biggest technological advancements - computers and internet access - provide an opportunity to view even more information, but in a format that is difficult for those with visual impairments. Braille, of course, is one method that blind people can enjoy written language and learn. However, this tactile form of reading is expensive, making it unhelpful for many who are blind.

Finally, though, a technological advance for blind and visually impaired people was developed. Downloadable Audio Books for blind people allow many more people to easily obtain information, hear stories, and stay current with the world’s news.

With the mass production of audio books for the blind, and others, visually impaired people for the first time are able to really go online right now and access an audio book download for themselves. With this, they have the ability to learn for free or cheaply in a way that has not been available to them before.

It is clear that audio books for the blind have really helped many people obtain an education that they would not have had ten or in some cases even five years ago, and it is yet another example of how the technological world we live in has created huge advantages for people everywhere.

No subject is off limits where unabridged audio books for the blind are concerned, so visually impaired people today are able to educate themselves in subjects like art, music, drama, economics, history, geography and literature to a point that was unattainable for the average blind person just a few years ago.

Great advances that have been made in blind education through audio books in the core areas of reading, writing, mathematics and science, and as a result, blind people are able to easily access educational audio books.

Audio books for the blind can also be obtained simply for the pleasure of reading a story. There are thousands of books available in audio formats that can be easily accessed for enjoyment by visually impaired people, and this includes popular and contemporary authors, fiction books of all genres, and non-fiction works as well.

Audio books are a great example of how technology can benefit and enhance people’s lives, especially those with disabilities.

Learning The History Of Community Theatre

a theatre company

A community theatre usually involves local volunteers who work together on productions of dance theatre, children’s theatre and musical theatre. The actors, stage hands, set designers, people in props and costumes are usually unpaid amateurs, but sometimes professional actors participate as well. Community theatres are a great way to get people together in a fun and educational environment.

While it was not true in early years of theatre, now most theatres around the world are, in actuality, community theatres. What actually makes a community theatre is the fact that a theatre is run by a community, with community interests in mind. This type of theatre first originated in Europe around the 1880s. These theatres were started so that more of the public could enjoy theatrical shows without having to pay a lot of money. The early 1900s brought the idea of “little theatre” to the United States, where most theatre was being done as traveling productions. This kind of theatre company became popular because of the anti-Broadway movement that was going on at that time. Nearly all theatre companies had to be part of “the Syndicate,” which was a few people who owned a theatre company that basically owned all of the theatres under them, and were using them as a way to get rich. The Syndicate made it extremely difficult to run any theatre outside of it. This brought about the fight against the commercialization of arts theatre, and that is how community theatres became popular in the United States.

In the early years, community theatres were even funded by the government, but when shows became too political, government funding was stopped. Community theatres of today are a little different than the old “little theatres,” as most simply want to infuse a little culture into the lives of the local citizens. In many cases, these theatres are run by colleges and their theatre departments. These productions are often free of charge, or charge very little money to pay for costumes and other incidental expenses. Many also encourage the participation of children and other young people to let them develop theatrical skills, as well as to keep them busy so that they do not choose to get into trouble. Theatre is seen as a wholesome activity for young people to be involved with, and the fact that a production takes a lot of hard work and dedication is good as well.

It is always exciting to learn the history of something you are interested in. Learning the history of community theatre is exciting as well, as they are definitely an innovative and exciting way to get community members working together. Additionally, for those who aspire to become professional actors and to one day secure a part in a national theatre production, it is an exciting venue to learn and develop theatrical skills.

The Effects Of Fine Art

Taking in great paintings and sculptures is an endeavor that is all too frequently dismissed by many as just another way to kill the hours. Outside of those who have specifically followed a career in the arts, becoming masters of the brush, palette, and folding easel, we generally only get to follow our passion when we can get away from the nine to five.

Other sorts of recreation don’t truly compare to the experience possible by developing a keen understanding of an artist’s intended message. While it’s true that many things can influence us, none of them pack the emotional wallop that a great piece of art can.

To truly see a painting or sculpture for what it is requires some study of the craft. Most folks have to get themselves accustomed to the delicacies that exist in a painting before they can truly let go and enjoy. To the non initiated, even coming across a person who can remain silently transfixed by a drawing for extended periods of time can be a ridiculous thing. There is a wordless understanding that takes place between the art lover and the work. It is an impassioned reaction that is often impossible to explain to those who have not gone through it.

The painter and the preacher aren’t really that different in that they both have their own point of view which they have a feverish desire to impart to their fellow man. One works with their discount easels and wrought iron easels, the other with the Good Book and the power of their voice. A painting is the embodiment of the painter’s ideas. This is their language, with each finished work to serve as a powerful oration directed at the viewer.

Extraordinary art has the ability to communicate any idea you can imagine, be it one of philosophy, religion, or politics. Paintings can call forth profound emotional reactions. Our own opinions can actually be modified on a level that can’t be easily reached via more direct means such as the spoken word.

As we look into a great painting, we often realize that the artist is directing us to think about the story of our lives and how we ultimately mesh with the world around us. Many of us wouldn’t normally think about such things if left to our own devices. Artists provide us with a means to advance our way of thinking. This process turns us into people who are more developed and rounded than if we had not had such experiences.

Extended contemplation as a result of fine art does often make one reexamine ways of thinking that have been present for years. For instance, after a day spent browsing artwork, it wouldn’t be unheard of for a mom to be moved to take more time out to devote to her child because life is too short. A person of faith will quite possibly get something else entirely out of the contemplation of art, maybe having to do with his or her relationship with God.

Even people whose primary concern is the acquisition of great wealth may be drawn into taking a hard look at the importance of their goals. By the study of art, we may gain a better understanding of our own nature. If we develop into finer people through a pursuit of the arts, then isn’t it all worthwhile?

MP3 Audio Book Download Has Many Benefits

CD audio book

Books are an incredibly rich and varied source of knowledge, insights and inspiration, and they can add almost unimaginable dimensions to a person’s life as they delve into various tomes and learn from them. While not everyone has the opportunity to curl up with a favorite book on a regular basis, most people have at least some time each day when they could listen to an MP3 audio book download.

There have been audio books, which used to be referred to as “books on tape,” for a number of years. It has been reported that the first recording of a book was done all the way back in the 1930s when audio recording equipment could still be considered to be in its infancy. Today, the most convenient, the most widely available, and the most cost effective option for enjoying the modern version of a book on tape is with an MP3 audio book.

With the MP3 players having gotten so popular with people of all ages, and having become less expensive as well, the selection of MP3 audio book download volumes has also expanded significantly. The reality is that in this digital age it can be easier to get an MP3 of a book that has been recorded than to put your hands on the same book on CD, which can no longer be considered the most popular format for audio books.

The process and the cost of delivering the product to the customer are greatly facilitated by being able to offer MP3 versions of their titles. With audio books on CD, or on the “old fashioned” cassette tape, the publisher has to pay up front for the production costs of putting the recording of the books onto those physical mediums. Not only is that an out of pocket expense, but there is no assurance that once the tape or CD audiobook inventory is made that it will be in demand by the public.

But if a publisher can offer their works in the form of an MP3 audio book, then they have the opportunity to test the market and get a read on how popular a particular audio book on CD might be before they ever have to invest a dollar to produce hard copies of their audio book offerings. If a particular title doesn’t sell as well as hoped, then they have gotten valuable market data with very low overhead and if it does sell well enough to justify going into production to burn the audio book CDs, then they will have an idea of how many to produce as a first run.

Another advantage to the publisher is that they do not have to worry about needing warehouse space to store the inventory of CD audio book titles, nor do they have to deal with distribution to retailers, or shipping to customers. Publishers of MP3 audio book download recordings can also sell direct to the customer from their website and cut out the expense of the “middle man” as well.

While these are all significant benefits to publishers of MP3 audio book download titles, the consumers gain a great deal as well. In most cases the MP3 version of an audio book will be less expensive, and some publishers have even provided free audio book versions to customers who purchase the printed book. At the same time, because it is easier and cheaper for the publishers to produce, MP3 audio book technology means that there are even more titles to choose from as well.

The Doctor Who Sci-Fi Series & DW Audiobooks Serial: The History

Pretty much everyone in countries like the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, New Zeeland, Australia etc will have at least heard of the world famous Sci-Fi series DW by the BBC! Now that DW is back on TV since 05 after it’s 15yr pause the show has gotten to be pretty popular once more, so mush so in fact that even the Science fiction channel has taken an interest in the TV show.

Thanks to the new series Doctor Who is now officially the longest running Sci-Fi series ever with the 1st episode shown by the BBC on November the twenty third 1963, an episode in which the Dr. & his companions journeyed back 100,000 years into Earth’s past to give a hand to some somewhat unintelligent cavemen so that they could make the discovery of fire. Star Trek is the second longest running Sci-Fi show of all time having began in nineteen sixty thee with episodes being produced up in to only a few years ago.

With the great success of Doctor Who, the BBC began creating Doctor Who Audio back in the 70s for cassette and LP. Initially the BBC only made soundtracks from the original TV serial & then had the Doctors of the time add some linking narration to unify the dialog for the listener. But because of their popularity soon after episodes were written for Audiobook release solely, often narrated by past Drs of the serial.

To add to this the BBC began creating radio episodes, again with past Drs who had played in the serial, these stories were also made available in Audio format. Also a lot of of the lost shows have been re done by their original Doctors in the Audiobook format making them finally available to the general public once again. There exist Audiobooks from the very 1st serial all the way up to the most recent serial with David Tennent and even Sarah Jane and Torchwood Audios.

One of the really good things about Doctor Who Audio Books is that they provide us the freedom to listen to our favorite shows anywhere we please with the use of the modern mp3 player. Audiobooks help us to achieve more out of our increasingly busier days, as it is so easy for as to listen to them while doing other things like working out, house work, driving, and other activities that permit multitasking. Also an important factor about audio titles is that they are often narrated by their original actors, which really adds to the whole experience. They are also a good choice for long car rides, especially with children as there’s nothing like a good Doctor Who episode to keep them busy.

The way things stand right now it looks like DW and its spin-off series torchwood and the Sarah Jane adventures are doing really well so things look good for us to be able to be entertained by them for some years to come.

The Journey of Slots

From the first one-armed bandit, the Liberty Bell in 1887 to modern machines in Las Vegas and their online counterparts — the history of the slot machines has seen it all. Many things have changed since then, but the idea remains — spinning reels, usually three of them must stop at the combination of one from the pay table, usually three equal images on each. Let’s take a look at what technology changes have the slot machines gone through, and most importantly the differences between classic and online machines.

The main functional unit of a slot machine is the random number generator (RNG) which in today’s machines is a software running on an embedded computer. The outcomes of every spin are calculated by this unit leaving the rest for visual graphics to create pleasant effects for entertainment purposes. In that sense, online slot machines are simplified version of their real-life counterparts. Does that mean there are no other differences but that? More often then not there are and many.

Firstly let’s consider where the machines are deployed. The offline machines are in casino houses and are under strict regulations in different countries. Everything is regulated, a slot machine must have a minimal payout percentage, the gameplay must follow the accepted rules. Near-miss is one such rule. Programming a machine to create an illusion of near-miss situations to call on player’s desire to win is strictly prohibited. In fact, such regulations leave little room for imagination to manufacturers, especially when marketing is concerned.

Online games are completely different. Even though the technology is exactly the same, the rules may highly differ. Because the online casino’s run from off-shore countries with very tolerant laws (especially after online casinos ban in US), the casino holders are free to do what they want. That means not only near-miss programming, but also preference over the bet amount, even tracking of player’s performance and reacting accordingly. Mind you, the most reputable online casino’s will try to have their machines as close to reality as possible, but that doesn’t mean you can’t expect to see some tricks.

Having that in mind, a player can take this to his or her advantage or at least be aware of the differences and that same tactics don’t apply online as they do offline. For example, while real slot machines have their RNGs running at all times and there is a difference as to when you have a spin, you can save the breath online - obviously they are not running at all times and the outcome is always determined at the very instant you push the button.

In conclusion, even though you will not become rich by exposing the differences, keeping them in mind can help in small but meaningful ways. This gives a chance to find your perfect slot machine online as it would never be the case offline. And as a closing tip, unlike in casino houses, online you can always play free slots as you are trying the machines — there are thousands of them and even a penny on each can cost you a fortune.

Going With A Cheap Mp3 Player

When it comes to wanting to have quality entertainment, most people automatically assume that they are going to have to spend a big chunk of money. But that simply is not the case because you can learn how to buy cheap mp3 player systems with little trouble.

The thing about these gadgets is that even though they are extremely popular, you can find yourself a cheap mp3 player to get you started. For someone just starting out this is a good way to get started, but of course, the cheap mp3 player is not going to be the system that holds the most amount of songs.

The cheap mp3 player can be found online through different web stores and even in some online auctions. You are probably going to want to make sure that you are going with something new instead of something used, in order to make sure that everything runs smoothly for you. This is just to make sure after a few days that your cheap mp3 player does not just end up in the garbage can. There is no reason why you could not afford a brand new one, being the new ones are so reasonable in price.

The Difference Between Models

When you are buying a cheap mp3 player you have to take into consideration that it is not going to hold as much songs as the more expensive models. It is still something to be aware of, while this does not matter to a lot of people. You will still have plenty of room for all kinds of different songs even with the cheap mp3 player. Even the low-end player will hold a couple hundred songs. Of course if you are the type of person that insists on being able to store thousands upon thousands of songs then you are going to have no choice but to go with a more expensive model.

Also, there is the big thing with the brand name, which has a lot to do with the price tag that is put on the cheap mp3 player. Your top of the line models is not going to be the cheapest in price so you will have to expect that. You are going to get more of an off brand player more then likely with the cheap mp3 player, but it will still work just as good. When it comes to the cheap ones, there really is no difference in the quality of the mp3 player.

Gus Hansen Turns a Tournament Win Into a Poker Book

Gus Hansen finally writes a poker book? One of the most notable sporting and entertainment figures of this decade has always been somewhat aloof to the poker market upswing while at the same time being the source of its epicenter. The man seemed to always avoid exploiting his own image in the poker lime light. There is an inherent love of challenge in Gus and his main thrust is simply… to play. Yes it’s true, that Gus loves to gamble. But in this poker book, you learn a lot more about how the math of Gus Hansen actually explains away that gambling moniker and theorem.

In this book, you will find Gus Hansen the analyzer, not Gus Hansen the gambler. Gus has really opened up here and goes through every contentious hand he plays at the 2007 Aussie Millions, where he dominated the final table and kick-slapped an internet newcomer named Jimmy Fricke heads up to seal the deal. In showing how he strategizes right through that tournament he creates sincere value that we amateur players may have never before been exposed to because players like Gus are just so rare.

If you’ve ever seen some of the hands from this tournament on youtube, you will see that Gus was actually using a personal recording device and whispering into a mic throughout the Aussie Millions Poker Tournament. You have to wonder if it was a self check system for Gus, or if he had actually planned to use the information for this book ahead of time.

Nonetheless he was definitely in a good position to analyze the hands for this book as he could easily review the chips counts, stacks, position and all the other important tournament factors. You get his detailed insight into the thought processes of one of the best tourney players in the world, while also learning about the different strategies of playing a full table and playing short-handed, and how important aggression is part of Gus Hansen’s poker tournament strategy.

Gus Hansen’s book should be read after Harington’s because you have two very different styles, but one could argue that Hansen is more successful than Dan Harrington. It is simply a matter of playing style, and both of these professional players have been very successful. Gus describes most poker books as far too tight-aggressive in style and feels that is not optimum tournament play, especially with large starting stacks and slow blinds.

The practical style poker books seems to carry more value as they are just that much easier to read, think about, and then take to the table yourself, trying to recognize similar situations you may have just soaked in. You can take these examples and really realte them to your own tournament experiences.

Gus meticulously relied on his notes about the tournament structure, the advancing blinds and overall strategy while recapping the day’s events, setting up for the day ahead, analyzing blinds changes and payout structures, and really analyzing his opponents quite frequently as the tournament changed.
